HISTORY

Our community which has become known as Richmond Spiritualist Church has been serving the Richmond-Upon-Thames community for close to a century. A group of the residents, who were interested in spirituality formed a community group (Lyceum). They hired rooms from local businesses to meetup socially twice a week and learn about mediumship / spiritualism, along with events for the community i.e. festive fairs.

As the group grew, they created a membership and affiliated themselves with the Spiritualists National Union (SNU) in 1967. 

In 1967 – our present location was purchased, as a member of the community Eileen McManus left a donation for the community group to purchase a property in the local area.

Today, the community group is still operating at the same property, although over the years, there has been a downward trend with people coming and going through our doors. 

Local people have taken up the necessary positions to act as the custodians to safeguard the property and community group by becoming members (£10), then volunteering to become a committee member. This has kept our doors open and community asset alive. 

For the first time in the last 15years, the committee has full control of the property and accounts, which will enable the committee to build upon the predecessor / founder’s vision to bring the community a sanctuary that they can develop and learn to enhance their connection with their higher energy. 

Over the last year there has been a substantial reconstruction of the committee, doors are open to anyone wanting to COME AND SAY HELLO OR BE PART OF THE COMMUNITY 

We organise regular church services, all of which include the demonstration of mediumship to prove the survival of the human soul.

In the future weekend training and development workshops will be undertaken to raise the standards of mediums or to enable people who want to delve deeper into the world of spiritualism. 

Every month there are numerous circles, classes and an open platform to teach basic awareness and mediumship skills. where everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources.
